Clinical Evidence & Outcomes
An overview of the efficacy data, outcomes, and research underlying the treatment programs coordinated through Servicios Médicos Cubanos. Individual results vary and are confirmed during personalized evaluation.
Compare Our Signature Therapies
Side-by-side comparison of Cuba's pioneering biotech treatments — developed by the Center of Molecular Immunology (CIM) and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).
| Compare | Lung Cancer Immunotherapy CIMAvax-EGF® | Lung Cancer Immunotherapy VAXIRA® (Racotumomab) | Diabetic Foot Ulcer Therapy Heberprot-P® |
|---|---|---|---|
Condition Treated | Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) | Advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) | Complex diabetic foot ulcers (Grade 3–4 Wagner) |
Mechanism of Action | Therapeutic vaccine that induces antibodies against epidermal growth factor (EGF), starving tumors of the growth signal they rely on. | Therapeutic vaccine that triggers an immune response against N-ganglioside NeuGcGM3, a tumor-associated antigen. | Recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) injected intralesionally to stimulate granulation and wound healing. |
Key Benefit | Extended survival as maintenance therapy after first-line treatment; improved quality of life. | Immune-mediated tumor control; used as maintenance/switch therapy to extend survival. | Accelerated healing in ulcers unresponsive to conventional care; significant reduction in amputation risk. |
Clinical Evidence | 5,000+ patients treated | Multi-center international trials | 85%+ healing in complex cases |
Administration | Intramuscular injection — induction phase followed by monthly maintenance | Subcutaneous injection — induction then periodic boosts | Intralesional injection 3× per week, combined with comprehensive wound care |
Treatment Duration | Several weeks in Cuba for induction, then ongoing maintenance | Induction over ~5 months in Cuba, followed by ongoing boosters | Up to 8 weeks with full wound-care protocol |
Eligibility | Confirmed NSCLC diagnosis; reviewed by Cuban oncology team | Advanced NSCLC; staged and assessed by Cuban oncology specialists | Diabetic foot ulcers that have failed standard treatment; specialist assessment required |

VAXIRA® (Racotumomab)
Advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Therapeutic vaccine that triggers an immune response against N-ganglioside NeuGcGM3, a tumor-associated antigen.
Immune-mediated tumor control; used as maintenance/switch therapy to extend survival.
Multi-center international trials

NeuralCIM®
Alzheimer's Disease
In the ATHENEA trial (170 patients), over half of treated patients improved versus 85% disease progression in the placebo group. NeuralCIM is a brain tissue-derived therapy used within Cuba's comprehensive neurological rehabilitation programs.

Heberprot-P®
Diabetic Foot Ulcers
Intralesional recombinant human epidermal growth factor (EGF), developed by Cuba's Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), has helped prevent amputation in thousands of patients across 20+ countries since 2007.

CIMAvax-EGF® & VAXIRA®
Lung Cancer
Therapeutic vaccines developed by Cuba's Center of Molecular Immunology (CIM), studied as maintenance therapy in non-small cell lung cancer. CIMAvax-EGF targets epidermal growth factor; VAXIRA (racotumomab) induces an immune response against N-ganglioside NeuGcGM3.
